Certification, temperature classification and hazardous area suitability depend on the selected product configuration.
The Eaton FHF dSLB20 is a xenon strobe light designed to provide a clear visual warning signal in potentially explosive areas.
The range is available with 5-joule and 15-joule flash-energy options and a flash frequency of approximately 60 flashes per minute. Different operating voltages and lens colours are available to support project-specific alarm and signalling requirements.
Certified variants are available for Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. Product selection should be based on the required flash energy, voltage, lens colour, ambient temperature and complete hazardous area certification.

The dSLB20 xenon strobe provides a high-intensity visual warning for alarm, notification and process-signalling applications in hazardous areas.
Its xenon flash tube produces approximately 60 flashes per minute at a frequency of 1Hz. The product is available with 5J and 15J flash-energy configurations.
The unit is designed for continuous operation and is activated when the electrical supply is applied. Different DC and AC voltage options allow it to be integrated into a range of alarm and control systems.
The unit incorporates a flameproof aluminium housing, hardened borosilicate glass dome and an increased-safety terminal compartment. IP66/IP67 ingress protection makes the enclosure suitable for indoor and outdoor installation.
A stainless-steel mounting plate with an integrated junction box is available for creating a combined signalling assembly.
This product may also appear in legacy specifications as the MEDC dSLB20 xenon beacon.
There’s also a Eaton FHF dSLB20 LED Signal Light version.
The dSLB20 is available in two flash-energy levels. The required output should be selected against the viewing distance, ambient lighting, lens colour, alarm design and project specification.
The 5J version is available for 12V DC, 24V DC, 80V DC, 115V AC and 230V AC supplies.
It provides the same approximate 1Hz flash frequency with lower current consumption than the equivalent 15J configuration.
The higher-output 15J version is available for 24V DC, 80V DC, 115V AC and 230V AC supplies.
It is intended for applications requiring increased flash energy or stronger visual warning performance.
Certified dSLB20 variants are available for explosive gas and combustible-dust atmospheres. The final marking and permitted temperature range must be confirmed against the selected product code.
See the H&P guide to hazardous area zones and explosive atmosphere classification.
The xenon flash electronics are contained within a compact flameproof aluminium housing. The enclosure can be surface-varnished or powder-coated and is normally supplied in a yellow and blue finish.
A hardened borosilicate glass dome protects the xenon light source. A stainless-steel protection cage helps guard the glass against accidental impact.
The terminal compartment uses increased-safety protection, creating a combined Ex d e product construction.
The dSLB20 can be installed indoors or outdoors and can operate in any mounting orientation.
Different DC and AC configurations are available for the 5J and 15J versions. The electrical supply, voltage tolerance and current consumption must be confirmed when ordering.
Available glass-dome colours include transparent, red, amber, green and blue. The required colour should be selected according to the alarm philosophy or project specification.
The full ATEX or IECEx product reference is completed by appending the required two-digit lens-colour code to the selected article number.
Example: FHF 224 963 01 identifies a transparent 24V DC, 15J dSLB20 strobe.

The difference is the flash energy produced by the xenon tube. The 15J version provides higher flash energy but generally consumes more electrical current.
Both 5J and 15J variants flash approximately 60 times per minute at a frequency of 1Hz.
Yes. Its IP66/IP67 enclosure is suitable for indoor and outdoor installation when correctly installed with suitable cable-entry equipment.
Certified variants are suitable for gas Zones 1 and 2 and combustible-dust Zones 21 and 22.
No. This page covers the xenon strobe version with 5J and 15J flash-energy options. The dSLB20 LED uses LEDs and provides steady, blinking, strobe and electronically rotating modes.
Download the current Eaton datasheet for flash-energy options, electrical data, certification, dimensions and ordering information.
Technical data, approvals and ordering references can be revised. Confirm the current product documentation and equipment marking when placing an order.
Alternative products are available where LED operation, steady indication, different flash energy or another enclosure format is required.
