The fan is the main energy consumer of a cooling tower. Modern FRP fans with aerodynamic blades move more air for less power than old aluminium fans, and their pitch can be adjusted to match the airflow to the motor and the season.
FRP blades are light and corrosion-resistant, which reduces loads on the gearbox. Leading-edge protection extends blade life, and low-noise blade shapes help where noise limits apply.
