Product Overview
MI Heating Cables
TRM design and manufacture a range of bespoke heat tracing cables specialising in MI Heating Cables for high temperature and hazardous location environments. Offering a wide range of mineral insulated (MI) trace heating cables in both single and twin conductor configurations ensuring a cost effective pipe heating solution.
Almost all applications are suited to the standard range of commercial and industrial MI Cable for trace heating.
MI Cable Types
- Stainless Steel MI Cable Sheaths
- Cupro-Nickel MI Cable Sheath
- Copper MI Cable Sheath
- Alloy 825 MI Cable Sheath
- Inconel 600 MI Cable Sheath
Stainless Steel Sheathed MI Trace Heating Cables
Stainless steel MI trace heating cables offer high levels of corrosion protection and welding performance as well as an increased upper temperature operation to 600°C.
Cupro-Nickel Sheathed MI Trace Heating Cables
Cupro-Nickel MI trace heating cables offer high levels of corrosion protection and temperatures to seawater, chloride and sulphide stress corrosion and can reach as high as 400°C and resistances are from 0.004 ohms/m up to 1.6 ohms/m.
Copper Sheathed MI Trace Heating Cables
Copper trace heating MI cable allow good heat conduction and high resistance to corrosion in applications in marine and industrial environments. It is not suitable for use with oxidising acids, halogens, sulphides and ammonia based solutions and has a working temperature limited to 250°C.
Alloy 825 Sheathed MI Trace Heating Cables
Alloy 825 MI trace heating cables are suitable for industrial frost protection and high temperature process maintenance where good levels of corrosion resistance is required. It is not recommended for prolonged exposure between 550 and 750°C as phase transformation affects mechanical properties and consequent corrosion resistance of the alloy.
Inconel 600 Sheathed MI Trace Heating Cables
Inconel 600 MI trace heating cables offer excellent oxidation resistance and a strength at very high temperatures (up to 1150 °C). Not recommended for in sulphur atmospheres higher than 550 °C.

Trace Heating Systems & Heat Trace Cables
Electric heat tracing is a cable based system used to maintain, raise temperature and protect process pipework and vessels against freezing temperatures and associated frost damage – heat tracing cables mitigate and counteract cold weather effects as part of a Winterization strategy for industrial and process applications against low (sub-zero) ambient temperatures on both onshore and offshore locations.
Heat tracing systems utilising self-regulating, constant wattage and mineral insulated (MI Cable) heating cables are available to provide the optimum electrical heating system for your application – we provide a trace heating system design service.
