Product Overview

Field-erected cooling towers are built on site for large heat loads, cell by cell, and designed around your water flow, temperatures, wet-bulb conditions and water quality. Our partners design and build counterflow and crossflow towers in FRP or reinforced concrete for combined-cycle power plants, refineries, petrochemical complexes, steel mills and LNG terminals.

Designed for your process

The thermal design starts from the water flow, hot and cold water temperatures and the design wet-bulb temperature. The fill type follows the water quality – high-performance film fill for clean water, low-fouling or splash fill for dirty water – and the drift eliminators are selected to meet environmental limits.

FRP or concrete

FRP structures are corrosion-free, light and quick to erect. Concrete towers suit very large cells, seawater and long design lives. Both are equipped with fans, right-angle gearboxes, composite drive shafts, fan stacks, fill, drift eliminators and spray nozzles.

Turnkey delivery

The scope can include civil design of the basin, supply of all components, erection by experienced crews, commissioning and a thermal performance test to CTI practice.

Frequently asked questions

Which data do you need to design a tower?

Water flow, hot and cold water temperatures, design wet-bulb temperature, water quality (including suspended solids and whether it is seawater), site location and space available.

FRP or concrete – which is better?

FRP is faster to build and corrosion-free; concrete suits very large cells, seawater duty and very long design lives. We compare both for your project.

What information do you need for a quotation?

The tower make and model or cell size, photos of the nameplate and the existing part, dimensions and quantities. For new towers and upgrades: water flow, hot and cold water temperatures, wet-bulb temperature, water quality and site location.
