Product Overview

The BFW Omega series is a high-speed drill-tap centre designed for mass production of small and medium-sized parts. A directly coupled spindle, rapids of 54 / 54 / 48 m/min and a 1.9-second chip-to-chip time cut the non-productive seconds that decide your cost per part.

Speed where it counts

The directly coupled spindle reaches up to 12,000 rpm, or 24,000 rpm as an option, ideal for small drills, taps and high-speed finishing in aluminium and steel. Rigid tapping, absolute encoders on all axes and electronic counterbalance of the Z axis are all standard.

Six sizes, one platform

Omega 3060, 3070, 3080, 30100, 4080 and 40100 cover X travels up to 1000 mm. The Omega 40100, for example, offers a 1000 × 500 mm table, 1000 / 600 / 500 mm travels and a 500 kg table load. The same platform is also available as Omega Duo (two spindles) and Omega Penta (five axes).

Ready for automated cells

An automatic front door, a robot-loading interface, a tool breakage sensor and through-spindle coolant at 16 or 40 bar make the Omega easy to integrate into lights-out or semi-attended production. An increased daylight version and provision for 4th and 5th axes give room for future parts.

Compare with other BFW VMCs

If your parts need heavier cutting or a larger table, compare the Omega with the BFW Xtron VMC. For pallet-based production with minimal idle time, see the Novell V+ pallet-changer VMC.

Frequently asked questions

What is a drill-tap centre?

A compact, high-speed vertical machining centre optimised for drilling, tapping and light milling. Fast spindle acceleration, rapids and tool changes keep cycle times short in mass production.

How fast is the BFW Omega?

Rapid traverse is 54 / 54 / 48 m/min on X / Y / Z, the spindle reaches up to 12,000 rpm (24,000 rpm optional) and the tool change takes 1.9 seconds chip-to-chip.

What are Omega Duo and Omega Penta?

Omega Duo is the dual-spindle version for machining two parts at once. Omega Penta is the 5-axis version for multi-face parts in one clamping.

Can the Omega be loaded by a robot?

Yes. An automatic front door and a robot-loading interface are available as options.
