The BFW Orion Fx brings simultaneous 5-axis machining to the proven Orion horizontal machining centre platform. It balances precision and speed for complex parts in aerospace, automotive, medical and energy, with fewer setups, repeatable accuracy and competitive cycle times.
Every Orion Fx comes with a motorised HSK spindle, a continuous direct-drive rotary table (0.001°), a continuous swivel axis, a 60-tool servo magazine, 40 bar through-spindle coolant with paper-band filtration and an overhead shower wash. Spindle, B-axis, C-axis and ball-screw core cooling keep the thermally symmetric structure stable.
The Fx5500 has a 500 × 500 mm pallet, 800 / 1000 / 800 mm travels, a 12,000 rpm / 28 kW spindle and a 700 kg payload. The Fx8000 takes 630 × 630 mm pallets (800 × 800 optional) and 1500 kg; the Fx10000 handles 1000 × 1000 mm pallets and 3000 kg, both with 8000 rpm / 63 kW spindles. All tilt from −30° to +180° and rotate 360°.
For the Fx8000, a milling-turning table (Ø630 at 700 rpm or Ø800 at 500 rpm) combines milling and turning in one machine. An automatic pallet changer, SMED and automation readiness, hydraulic pallet couplings, 60 bar coolant, part probing, laser tool measurement, collision monitoring and IIoT 4.0 connectivity are available.

It is a horizontal machining centre, so chips fall away from the part, heavier pallets up to 3000 kg can be handled, and a pallet changer can be added for production.
